Supporting neurodivergent young people in the school holidays

Overwhelm at the loss of structure and changing routine. Worry about the future. Burnout from a busy term. Excitement and relief - school's out for the holidays!

Neurodivergent young people might feel all or none of these emotions. They might also be feeling:

  • lost or purposeless without the structure and orientation of school and academia.
  • dysregulation amid sensory changes or overwhelming stimuli.
  • anxious thoughts and behaviour, or feeling ‘stuck’.
  • withdrawal or ‘shutdown’.
  • excessive energy or overstimulation.
