Response offers safe, supportive community housing for individuals living with mental health challenges, who do not require 24-hour support. Our accommodation supports people continuing their recovery, with visiting support. We provide comfortable, homely accommodation close to local shops and amenities, helping individuals stay connected to their community. Our visiting support is tailored to individual needs and focuses on promoting independence and encouraging people to take an active role in their own wellbeing.

Service Information

These services enable people to build a supportive network of friends, family and professionals, and support them to access the career and training they want to engage in. Staff will work on signposting and supporting individuals to find independent accommodation in the community through the local authority housing register or private rented sector.

Our community housing with visiting support services

The Iffley Road services, located in Oxford, are an example of our community houses with visiting support. They provide self-contained studio accommodation. The aim is to offer individuals the opportunity to test independent living in their own space. This is the lowest level of support within our visiting support services, and referrals into these self-contained studios are usually made internally, once a person has demonstrated their ability to manage a tenancy in other areas of the organisation. Moves on from this service are typically into council accommodation or private rented housing.

Our North Patch services, located in Banbury, are made up of four homes which are all houses of multiple occupancy (HMO). All these homes are based in and around the town centre, close to all essential amenities Banbury has to offer. Individuals living here will be able to manage most aspects of their recovery, enjoy peer support from their housemates, and will receive visits from dedicated support workers once a week.

Residents enjoy a variety of activities designed to empower individuals, as well as build independence and confidence for the future.

Activities include:

  • Local volunteering and training opportunities.

  • Community events, leisure centres, and wellbeing activities

  • Access to external community events.

Support includes:

  • Supporting residents around meaningful activity.
  • Encouragement and support to better manage their Mental Health.
  • One to one support in all areas with a named worker.
  • Support to learn life skills.
  • Support around managing their money (if applicable).
  • Individualised Support Plans.
  • Recovery Programmes

These services include a mixture of community houses providing 9–5 visiting support. These consist of shared houses of multiple occupancy (HMOs) ranging from 2–5 bed properties, with residents having access to shared living rooms and bathrooms. The service also includes a mix of settings, including both mixed-gender and single-gender (male or female) accommodation. Alongside this, we also offer self-contained studio apartments at Iffley Road, which provide low-level visiting support to help individuals take positive steps towards fully independent living.

Each individual will have a dedicated support worker that will visit them on a regular basis, and will work with them to co-produce person centred recovery goals to work towards, that are designed to secure their progress towards living independently.

Local Community: Individuals often also receive support from charities in the local areas, such as Restore, which is a charity that focuses on mental health recovery through gardening.

Visits: Visits are allowed. Individuals must be mindful of the other people that live in the house if it is shared and all visitors must be accompanied in communal areas at all times. Any disturbances caused that are upsetting to neighbours and house mates could put your tenancy at risk, so each individual is fully responsible for their visitor’s behaviour whilst they are in their home.
