Rapid Rehousing is part of Response homelessness provision, delivered in partnership with Oxford City Council. The service provides temporary shared accommodation and support for single adults aged 18–65 who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness across Oxford, helping them build independent living skills and move towards stable, long-term housing. This service also works closely with other agencies such as Homeless Oxfordshire, Asylum Welcome, St Mungo’s, Crisis, Aspire, and Connections to reduce homelessness.

Service Information

The Rapid Rehousing service provides shared housing alongside tailored support to help individuals develop the skills and confidence needed to live independently and move towards long-term, stable accommodation.

Rapid Rehousing is designed for people who may be in temporary accommodation, sofa surfing, or otherwise without secure housing. Through safe and well-maintained shared homes and structured support, the service helps residents rebuild independence and progress towards more permanent housing solutions.

Residents in Rapid Rehousing are supported to take part in a range of structured activities that promote independent living skills, wellbeing, and progression towards long-term accommodation. These activities are designed to build confidence, reduce isolation, and prepare residents for sustaining their own tenancy.

Activities include:

  • Budgeting and money management workshops.
  • Cooking and household management sessions.
  • CV writing, job searching, and employability support.
  • Health and wellbeing activities.
  • Guidance on accessing education, training, and courses.
  • Independent living skills workshops to support tenancy readiness.

Support includes:

  • Dedicated support from an experienced team.
    One-to-one support tailored to individual needs and goals.
  • Support to develop practical independent living skills.
  • Guidance with managing finances, health, and wellbeing.
  • Support to explore education, training, and employment opportunities.
  • Assistance to identify and move on to suitable long-term accommodation.
  • Individualised support planning focused on progression and independence.

Rapid Rehousing provides high-quality, spacious shared homes across Oxford. Each resident has their own private room, alongside access to well-maintained communal spaces. Our dedicated repairs, maintenance, and cleaning teams ensure that all properties are kept to a high standard.
The service currently includes 12 properties, offering a total of 52 beds.

Our experienced support team is available to help residents develop independent living skills, manage daily tasks, and prepare for future housing.

Referrals process

All referrals to the Rapid Rehousing service come via Oxford City Council’s homelessness prevention teams.

Self-referrals are not accepted. Referrals are assessed to ensure suitability, and alternative options are recommended if needed. Accepted individuals must be at risk of or experiencing homelessness and willing to engage with support.
