Harwood House is Response’s 24-hour community-supported housing service in Buckinghamshire, offering a safe environment for adults with mental health diagnoses. Our dedicated, trained team provides person-centered care and therapeutic interventions, helping residents develop life skills and achieve personal goals.
The recovery model at Harwood House is designed to engage individuals needing continued high-level support, particularly for individuals who have had extended stays on acute psychiatric and rehabilitation wards, or those returning closer to home after periods in out-of-county placements.

At Harwood House, we deliver meaningful support that makes a real difference. Residents build confidence and independence and families see positive progress. Our engaging activities ensure active involvement every month and work to further support individuals in their recovery and back into the community, helping them to gain as much independence as possible.
Residents enjoy a variety of activities that foster social interaction and personal growth.
Activities include:
- Weekly gardening sessions.
- Cooking groups and communal meals.
- Karaoke.
- Movie nights.
- Bingo.
- Outdoor walks.
- Local community volunteering opportunities.
Support includes:
- Supporting residents around meaningful activity.
- Encouragement and support to better manage their Mental Health.
- One to one support in all areas with a named worker.
- Support to learn life skills.
- Support around managing their money (if applicable).
- Individualised Support Plans.
- WRAP Plans completed with residents.
Harwood House houses nine individuals. Nine private bedrooms feature an ensuite, shower/WC. Four out of the ten bedrooms have kitchenettes for individuals progressing with independence skills. Harwood House also has a communal kitchen, diner, garden lounge and laundry room, as well as a central office for staff and a side office/meeting space.

FAQs
Adults with enduring Mental Health conditions. Those who may not yet be ready for independent living. Harwood offers a two year tenancy to support recovery, living skills, and developing the confidence to move into the community independently.
The Harwood team will aim to enable an individual to move on to more independent living arrangements within two years, but there is flexibility depending on the needs of the individual.
Referrals and applications to this service will be made directly to the service management team by social care services and acute hospital ward staff, however any enquires regarding placements at Harwood can also be sent to referrals@response.org.uk
All meal preparation is planned and managed by both individuals living at the service and the staff team. All individual dietary requirements can be supported and individuals are encouraged to develop a meal plan that is suitable to their cultural and nutritional needs.
Due to the communal living arrangements at Harwood House, pets for individuals cannot be accepted on referral.
WiFi is available throughout the service and is paid for collectively by all of the individuals, meaning there is only a small charge per person.
Smoking in the building or within individual living spaces is not permitted. Response is committed to creating a smoke free environment in all of its services, for both staff and the people we support, to enjoy clean air when indoors. There are however external smoking areas.
