Life Before Response

For Patrick, gambling had begun to have a significant impact on his life. Much of his money was being lost to gambling, leaving him struggling to manage day-to-day expenses and, at times, going days without eating. The difficulties he was experiencing also began to affect his mental health, making it increasingly difficult for him to cope with everyday life. Patrick also suffered from mental health challenges and experienced homelessness before receiving wellbeing support and housing through Response.

Receiving Support

Working alongside him, the team helped him with the practical aspects of day-to-day living, alongside support to manage his money, it’s this that began to provide the stability and structure he needed to move forward. Through this support, Patrick was able to develop important life skills and begin rebuilding his confidence.

"Everywhere you go, you want to feel safe. To know that you've got your own space that is safe, it's a lot of weight off your shoulders."

A Safe Place to Call Home

A significant step in Patrick’s journey was moving into a place of his own, giving him somewhere safe and secure that he could call home. Having a stable environment has helped Patrick to focus on himself, his wellbeing and the future, while continuing to build the skills he needs to live more independently.

Life Today

With the support of Response, Patrick has been able to move forward from a particularly challenging period in his life. What began with difficulties around gambling, finances and his mental health has become a journey towards greater stability, independence and a sense of safety. Response continues to support Patrick as he gets back into the swing of everyday life and looks towards the future.
