We are really happy to share some fantastic news from Coasters‘, a service which provides a broad range of regular, well-structured and easily accessible activities
Coasters’ Annual Sponsored Climb 2018:
A successful day on February 2nd 2018, with a core group (6 service users including 2 Response residents) of 7 climbers out of 22 participants in total achieved a height of 4,421 metres (14,500 ft) climbed, including one resident who achieved an individual target of a mile climbed (5,280 feet) with 250 ascents of the Climbing Wall at Oxford Brooke’s University Centre for Sport.
The money we have raised so far from the event totals £637. Incredible work!
Saturday Walk Group:
Our Saturday Walking Group has now completed 4 sections of the Roman Way. The latest involving 7 walkers included 2 ‘first-timers’ – who walked from Sturdy’s Castle to Ramsden during last Saturday’s ‘Beast from the East 2’ snow storm! All survived intact and glowing from the experience.
The Annual Ridgeway Walk Project:
The Ridgeway Walk Project is happening on Good Friday, March 30th 2018 and continues on Saturday 31st March 2018; then Easter Monday, April 2nd 2018; then Friday April 6th, Saturday April 7th; then Friday April 13th, and the finale on Saturday 14th April.
Each of the 7 Day walks returns to Oxford at the end of each leg (of around 12 miles) thus participants can attempt to cover the whole route (from Avebury in Wiltshire to Ivinghoe Beacon in Buckinghamshire: 87 miles) or less, even part of a day’s route (in 2017 we had 2 gentlemen from Papist Way, Cholsey who did the first 2 miles of a day’s route before returning (Coasters’ minibus Support) to Cholsey, thus contributing to the Project overall.
Open to all, minibus Support will transport walkers to each day’s start point and return walkers to Oxford and surrounds. Transport departs from Littlemore at 08.15 each day, 08.30 from the Restore car park, Manzil Way.
