Creating Homes not Housing – The Iffley Road Project

At Response, we believe everybody should have the chance to live independently. We are passionate about creating places which people can call their ‘home’, not merely creating ‘housing’. This drove us to acquire a large property in the centre of Oxford.

At the time of take-over, the house was uninhabitable and dilapidated however, we set to work converting the dwelling into 15 beautiful homes for our residents.

To ensure success, we consulted and co-worked with residents throughout the entire design, specification and build of the project. With resident inclusion at the heart of the development not only did we create appropriate and desirable homes, but we also enabled people to gain a sense of ownership, trust and value with regard to their future home and new community.

Carramar, Thatcham – Creating homes

Response carried out a complete refurbishment on this beautiful Grade II listed building. This new service is now the home for 10 new residents. In partnership with Berkshire Health Foundation Trust and Thatcham Town Council.

The home is for people who have been unable to leave hospital for some time because there was nowhere suitable for them to move to. This new service (called Carramar at the Priory) provides just this and with the support of Response staff they can now live in the community and hopefully one day move to their own independent living accommodation.
