Iris Hayter House.
Iris Hayter House was opened on 25th April 1988 and is a single story home accommodating 13 adults. The home is registered with the Care Quality Commission as a residential home.
Residents receive care and support with all aspects of their lives including: maintaining hygiene, medication, meals, mobility and social networking. All prospective service users have an in depth needs and risk assessment completed before admission and this forms the base of their individual care plan. The home operates a key working system and allocated staff work closely with service users. Key working staff meet with service users monthly to review the care plan, and individual daily notes are completed morning and evening for everyone.
Independence, involvement and choice are a driving force within the home. Care plans are service user focused and life aspirations and risks are incorporated. This is enhanced by regular house meetings and a 3 monthly Residents Forum. Nursing care is not provided in the home; if the need for this arose service users would be consulted and supported with any moves deemed necessary.
The home is staffed to National Minimum Standards guidelines, and operates a 24hour service. Investment and training of staff is imperative to a well run service. All staff within the home receives an induction, two monthly supervision and yearly appraisal. Staff meetings are held bi-monthly. Training includes: National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) in care and mental health, medication administration, communication, fire, first aid, food hygiene, professional boundaries and alert to abuse. The home is inspected monthly by a member of the Response board of Directors and twice yearly by the Care Quality Commission
